Types of Certification – General Information

Product (process, service) certification can be carried out in two directions: mandatory and voluntary.

Mandatory Certification — Confirmation by a specially authorized body that a product, process, or service complies with regulatory documents. Mandatory certification is carried out to protect the environment, human health, and property safety. For such products, compliance with the requirements established by law is mandatory.

Voluntary Certification — Carried out at the initiative of the manufacturer (performer, seller, supplier), consumer of goods, or state bodies (the customer). Voluntary certification is carried out for products that do not have safety requirements set by the state. This process helps protect the market from low-quality goods by testing the reliability, aesthetics, ergonomics, and other characteristics of products. At the same time, voluntary certification does not replace mandatory certification, and its results do not provide a basis for banning the production of a product. The certification process is carried out according to the MYY RUz №1458, March 18, 2005, "Product Certification and Conformity Confirmation Scheme" and aligns with international standards.

At the same time, a "certificate of conformity" is issued for the product (service) based on certification schemes and the positive results of product testing, production certification, or management system certification.

Scheme №3 — Used for certifying products during production, and involves testing the product for mandatory characteristics and checking the production. This scheme requires testing product samples taken from the manufacturer and inspection control over production.

Scheme №7 — Used for certifying a batch of products, involving product testing.

Scheme №7A — Used for certifying a product (except for transport vehicles) within the same foreign trade contract and requires testing the product for mandatory characteristics.

Certified products can be marked with a special conformity mark based on certification schemes.

Suspension or Cancellation of Certification

Certification may be suspended or canceled in the following cases:

  • If the applicant does not notify the certification body about changes that affect certification characteristics.
  • If there are changes in the certified product or testing methods.
  • Changes in the product composition.
  • Changes in technology, control methods, or quality assurance systems.

If the applicant does not request re-inspection and corrective actions in agreement with the certification body, the certificate will be canceled.

Extending the Validity of the Certificate

The validity of a certificate can be extended upon the applicant's request. If the product has not been sufficiently sold, the extension request must be submitted two weeks before the certificate expiration date.

During the extension process, product inspection, information about the remaining products, and storage conditions are checked. If necessary, tests are conducted. Previous inspection results are also considered.

Expanding or Reducing the Scope of the Certificate

The scope of certification may change. Expanding the scope applies when new types of products are produced. Reducing the scope may occur if production is stopped or due to negative results from inspection control.

Issuing a Duplicate of the Certificate

If the original certificate is lost, the applicant must contact the certification body to request a duplicate. If the product is mass-produced, the duplicate certificate will be issued within one day.
